The story behind the keynote
Marcus Bullock was sent to adult prison in the Virginia Department of Corrections at 15 years old. He left eight years later with a notebook full of plans, a clear-eyed view of how institutions fail people, and a refusal to be defined by what the system had decided about him.
In the years since, he has built Flikshop into one of the most respected justice-tech companies in the country, a platform that has connected hundreds of thousands of incarcerated people with their families through a simple, breakthrough mobile product. Along the way he has been profiled by Forbes, CNN, Fast Company, NPR, The Washington Post, and The Tamron Hall Show, and has spoken on stages from TED to Apple to the United Nations.
Today Marcus is a sought-after keynote speaker for corporate leadership teams, universities, and global conferences. He serves on the advisory board of Princeton University's Prison Teaching Initiative, advises Georgetown's McDonough School of Business, and is a Halcyon Fellow and a member of John Legend's Unlocked Futures cohort.
